Shawdesh Desk:
Newly appointed chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Nasima Begum on Monday said corruption is the main hindrance to establishing human rights in the country.
She said this while talking to newsmen after she made a courtesy call on Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud at its headquarters in Segunbagicha in the city.
Nasima Begum said, “It is ACC’s authority to decide whether cricketer Shakib Al Hasan will continue his role as goodwill ambassador of the organisation.”
The NHRC chief said, “The ACC and the NHRC will work together to uproot corruption from the country and establish human rights. The NHRC will go wherever the incidents of human rights violations might take place.”
The organisation would also work to check the incidents of human rights violation due to any activity of the government, she added.
